For patients struggling with obesity, significant weight loss often requires a combination of solutions that include medical procedures, nutritional advice, and an effective exercise routine. With ReShape — a new, non-surgical dual-balloon system — patients can benefit from a proven weight loss procedure and program to treat obesity.

Designed for patients who have BMIs of 30-40, the ReShape Dual Balloon targets a large population that until recently had little to no options in regards to bariatric surgery.

“Previously, we only had bariatric surgery to offer patients, and it was really designed for people with larger BMIs — BMIs of 40 or 35 with co-morbidities. And there’s a huge patient population out there with nothing that we had to offer,” said Shawn Garber, MD. “Now, we have a new endoscopic procedure we can perform in the office that allows us to tap into a whole new patient population.”

ReShape is inserted endoscopically through the mouth and then filled with saline solution. The outpatient procedure takes about 10 minutes while the patient is mildly sedated. The device, which is removed after six months, is combined with one year of comprehensive coaching that helps patients stay motivated and make permanent lifestyle changes.
