Dan Gladney

President, CEO, Director and Chairman of the Board

Mr. Gladney has served as President and Chief Executive Officer since November 2015, and as Chairman of the Board of Directors since October 2016. Mr. Gladney joined the Company in November 2015 as President-elect and a member of the Board of Directors. Prior to joining the Company, Mr. Gladney served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Lanx, Inc., a medical device company focused on developing and commercializing innovative devices for spinal surgery. Prior to joining Lanx, Inc., Mr. Gladney was a Healthcare Operating Partner at Norwest Equity Partners (NEP), where he was responsible for strategic planning, business growth, and corporate governance for NEP portfolio companies, and executing new investment opportunities for the firm. Prior to joining NEP, Mr. Gladney served as President and Chief Executive Officer of several medical device companies including Heart Leaflet Technologies and ACIST Medical Systems, both of which were acquired by The Bracco Group. He also served as Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President of Complex Technologies, a publicly traded orthopedic and health and wellness electro therapy company. Mr. Gladney currently serves on the Board of Directors of ARIA CV, Inc. and has been a member of a number of other private and public company boards. After the sale of Lanx, Inc., he acted as a private investor and small business consultant.

Scott Youngstrom

Senior Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Youngstrom is the Senior Vice President, Finance and has served as Chief Financial Officer since October 2016. Mr. Youngstrom has over 25 years of strategic financial and operational experience in a variety of medical device companies, most recently having served as Chief Financial Officer and Vice President, Finance at Galil Medical, a leading developer of cryotherapy technology. Prior to Galil Medical, Mr. Youngstrom served as Vice President, Chief Operating Officer, and Chief Financial Officer at DGIMED Ortho, Inc., a developer of orthopedic medical devices. Mr. Youngstrom has previously served as Chief Financial Officer and Vice President, Finance with Anulex Technologies, Enpath Medical, Compex Technologies, Acist Medical Systems, and Cardiotronics.

Rajesh Nihalani, MD

Chief Technology Officer

Dr. Nihalani has served as Chief Technology Officer since May 2017, immediately following the Company’s acquisition of BarioSurg, Inc. From August 2008 to May 2017, Dr. Nihalani served as the Chief Executive Officer of BarioSurg, Inc., a privately held medical device company that developed a minimally invasive and reversible device to treat obesity and glycemic control. Dr. Nihalani holds a medical degree from the University of Nagpur, India.

Naqeeb (Nick) A. Ansari

Vice President of International Sales and US Veterans Administration Hospitals

Mr. Ansari joined the Company as Senior Vice President of Sales in January 2016. Since the acquisition of ReShape Medical, Inc. in October 2017, Mr. Ansari has assumed the position of Vice President of International Sales and US Veterans Administration Hospitals. Mr. Ansari has over 20 years of experience in the medical device industry, having held various senior sales positions at Stryker Corporation, DePuy, Medtronic, Inc., Lanx, Inc., and Globus Medical, Inc. Prior to joining the Company, Mr. Ansari spent two years as the owner of an independent distributor solely selling Biomet products. Prior to this, he served as Senior Vice President of Sales at Lanx, Inc.

Robert (Bob) C. Haggerty

Vice President US Commercial Sales

Mr. Haggerty served as Vice President US Commercial Sales for ReShape Medical, Inc. since October 2016, and transitioned to ReShape Lifesciences as part of the acquisition. Mr. Haggerty has over 30 years of experience driving revenue growth through alignment of sales and promotional strategies. His experience includes leading the development, launch, and commercial sales of innovative, paradigm-shifting products and technologies within highly competitive medical markets. Prior to joining ReShape Medical, Mr. Haggerty served as Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Ceterix Orthopaedics. Prior to that, he held the position of Vice President of Global Marketing with Covidien, GI Solutions, which acquired the start-up company BARRX Medical, a manufacturer of a medical device treating Barrett’s Esophagus disease, where Mr. Haggerty held both US and global vice president of sales positions. Mr. Haggerty has also held senior sales leadership positions at Gyrus/ACMI, Boston Scientific Endoscopy, and Procter and Gamble.

Deborah L. Schmalz

Vice President of Regulatory Affairs, Clinical Research, and Compliance

Ms. Schmalz has served as Vice President of Regulatory Affairs, Clinical Research, and Compliance since October 2017. Ms. Schmalz has over 25 years of executive leadership experience in medical device regulatory affairs, clinical research, compliance, and reimbursement. Ms. Schmalz served as a member of the executive team for Empi, Inc., Vascular Solutions, Entellus Medical, Veniti, and most recently served as Senior Director and Executive Director of the Medical Device Division of Medpace from May 2013 to October 2017.

Sharon Whalen, RN MS

Vice President of Reimbursement

Ms. Whalen has served as Vice President of Reimbursement since January 2018. With more than 25 years of leadership experience and medical device reimbursement, advocacy, and evidence development, she has held leadership roles at PacifiCare Health Systems, Edwards Lifesciences, World Heart Corp, and Endocare. Prior to joining ReShape Lifesciences, Ms. Whalen was Senior Director of Reimbursement and Health Policy with Acelity LP Inc.

Vipul Shah

Vice President of Operations and R&D

Mr. Shah joined the Company as Vice President of Operations and R&D in February 2018. With more than 18 years of experience in medical device manufacturing management, global supply chain, and information technology, he brings the business and technical requirements needed to ensure effective leadership and management. Prior to joining ReShape Lifesciences, Mr. Shah served as Vice President of Manufacturing and Operations at Presbia, where he oversaw global operations and manufacturing for optical medical device products, established the company’s manufacturing facility, and developed OEM overseas manufacturing. He has also held positions as Director of Manufacturing/Supply Chain for BiovisionAG/Visitome, Global Planning System Analyst at CooperVision, and Operations/IT Manager for Ocular Sciences.

Jon T. Tremmel

Mr. Tremmel has served as a director since January 2009. Mr. Tremmel has been retired and acting as an independent consultant since 2007. Over the course of his career at Medtronic, Inc., Mr. Tremmel served in a variety of senior management positions, including President of the Neurological Division, President of the Physio Control Division, President of the Tachyarrhythmia Management Division and President of the Interventional Vascular Division. Mr. Tremmel currently serves on the board of Cyberonics, Inc., a publicly held company that designs, develops, and markets implantable medical devices for the treatment of epilepsy and other debilitating neurological disorders, and Nuvectra Corp, a publically held neuromodulation medical device company focused on the development of neurostimulation technology to treat various disorders of the nervous systems.

Lori C. McDougal

Ms. McDougal has served as a director since July 2015. With more than 18 years of experience in the healthcare industry at an executive level, she has also served as Executive Vice President at Optum, Inc., part of UnitedHealth Group, Inc. Prior to her time at Optum, she served as Chief Executive Officer of UnitedHealth Group’s subsidiary UnitedHealth Military & Veterans Services, LLC, and previously served as Chief Operating Officer of UnitedHealth Military & Veterans Services. Before joining UnitedHealth Military & Veterans Services, she served as a Vice President of UnitedHealthcare Medicare & Retirement. Additionally, she served as President of UnitedHealth International, and Vice President of OptumInsight.

Gary D. Blackford

Mr. Blackford has served a director since August 2016. Mr. Blackford has over 30 years of executive experience in the healthcare industry, having most recently served as President, Chief Executive Officer, and member of the Board of Directors of Universal Hospital Services Inc., a nationwide provider of medical equipment management, technology, and service solutions for the healthcare industry. From 2001 to 2002, Mr. Blackford was Chief Executive Officer of Curative Health Services, Inc., a specialty healthcare services and pharmacy distribution company. Mr. Blackford has also served in executive roles at pharmacy benefit management companies, including Medintell Systems Corporation, and ValueRx (acquired by Express Scripts). He currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors for Wright Medical Group N.V., Halyard Health, Inc., and PipelineRx.
